December Newsletter
I hope you're doing well! It's been a good while since the last newsletter. Lately I've been primarily working on oil and charcoal portraits. There was a week-long Autumn Landscape workshop here in Tryon in October, and I taught my usual Still Life class here this Fall.
Of course the portrait work generates travel, and in the next few months I'm headed to the Midwest, the Northeast, the Southeast and the Southwest. That is about every direction! If you or someone you know is interested in an oil or charcoal portrait please let me know.
For the rest of 2009 I am offering a very nice portrait incentive. Please call me at 828-859-0318 or email me at
rich@richnelson.com for more information. Also, if you or someone you know is looking for a Still Life or Landscape painting for the holidays we can get that done!
In other news, my painting Kim #5 was juried into the Oil Painters Of America Eastern Regional Exhibition at the Corse Gallery in Jacksonville, Florida.
My article on portfolios was featured in The Portrait Society's 4th Quarter magazine. While it was edited down for space, the entire article is to be posted on the PSOA Facebook page soon.
Some of you may know that I have been playing in a rock band for the first time in years. We call ourselves Wishgrove, and we are enjoying writing and recording our own music. We played our first show on Halloween here in Tryon. You can hear our music at
myspace or
facebook.
Friend us, and check back now and then; we are very excited about the new music we're writing.
Thanks!

We had a dinner at our home Sunday evening before starting, and ended with a reception and show on Saturday. We worked on still life, landscape, and figure/portrait subjects with lots of demonstrations and group critiques like all RN workshops. Please email me at rich@richnelson.com or call me at 828-859-0318 if you have any questions about future workshops.
